Today the Sandbur stands in its very own simplicity, surrounded by luxurious four- and five-star houses of the local hotel scene, in the historic center of Lech.
But sitting in the Walserstube or in the room above, you can watch the local children, picking flowers or playing in the snow on their way to school, you sometimes feel strangely moved into another time and reality.
Consciously and intentionally, the Sandbur has over the years resisted the temptations of lucrative sales offers as well as the temptation to mutate into one of those luxury chalets that try in vain to imitate authenticity and enchanting charm. This is probably also due to the stubbornness of the Walser family and a commitment to the heritage of the fathers that has been passed down through the generations.
Today and tomorrow, the house will undergo a gentle transformation through a gradual process of renovation. Among other things, previous interventions will be removed, historic building fabric will be exposed and renovated, and new rooms and building services will be installed to meet today's needs without distorting or disfiguring the substance.
This process was started during the summer of 2019 as a first step and will accompany us in the coming years.
